Overview

The argument in support of a new politics is developed by applying systems thinking to human beings - our natures, behaviour and culture. From that starting point we can look at the implications - what would good politics look like and we can use it to analyse our current arrangements. The gap between what we are capable of and what we actually do offers us choices about how to act (assuming we want to close the gap, i.e. get better). Many thinkers have wrestled with this problem. The advocates of sweeping change are revolutionaries, others are gradualists. It is useful to consider this choice in terms of strategy (where would we like to end up - the vision thing) with the reality we start from. What are the small steps can we take now that can have big repercussions.
